Thanks Robert!
Diesel Pizza and Pub… Highly recommended!
by Robert (aka TheDaddyAdventure.com)
As I mentioned before, I typically will not write about a restaurant unless it is really special. As was the case with Capozzi’s, and now the same with Diesel Pizza Pub. The first time I visited Diesel was around two weeks ago, since my initial visit I have already been back once and plan on going a third time here in the near future. It is a really cool atmosphere…super laid back.
I guess I could tell you exactly what Diesel is…maybe…This was originally the home of an automotive repair shop. The original building is the one being used, and the large garage doors are still intact. Concrete floors run throughout the entire restaurant, and the automotive theme dominates the restaurant. Everything to do with cars can be found here… there are hubcaps on walls, retro muscle car images in the bathrooms, and even the parking lot is full of cool cars. I have seen a Ferrari both times I have been to Diesel, and the last time there was a car called a Charleston Citroen. You can see where the restaurant gets its name from.
A bit more about the restaurant, it is freaking AWESOME! The End…
Just Kidding… let me describe the a bit about the food for you.

REPRINT FROM MILTON HERALD
November 30, 2009

Tara Cameron, who manages most of the day-to-day operations, stands outside of Diesel Pizza, which has maintained the architectural integrity of the classic 1940s gas station.
ROSWELL – In 1946 a spanking new service station opens in the heart of Roswell, then a hamlet of around 5,000 people. It is a pristine, efficient operation painted all in white with two bays.
A little more than 62 years later, it is a closed-up repair shop in the midst of a thriving city, the sixth-largest in Georgia, unremarkable to the thousands of cars that pass by each day.
Unremarkable, that is, except to Tara and Jim Cameron. They were impressed with the building’s trim lines and sleek Art Moderne design. The couple also recognized its potential sitting at the fringe of Roswell’s Historic District on Ga. 9 (Atlanta Street) and Norcross Street. Read the rest of this entry »
REPRINT FROM THE ROSWELL NEIGHBOR
November 6, 2009

Owners of Diesel Pizza and Pub, Tara and Jim Cameron were recently awarded the "Sensitive Rehabilitation/ Restoration" for the restoration of their restaurant.
Every morning as she drove her son to preschool, Roswell resident Tara Cameron would note the old, vacant building at the corner of Norcross and Alpharetta streets.
“We had our eyes on that place a year before it went up for lease. We thought it would be a great place for a pub,” she said.
Two years later, Cameron and her husband Jim have received an award from the Georgia Downtown Association and the Georgia Department of Community Affairs for their rehabilitation of the vintage 1940s service station, now Diesel Pizza and Pub.
“Jim and Tara Cameron took a chance on a building which had served Roswell’s automotive needs since 1948 and needed a lot of TLC,” said Cherith Marshall, the Roswell city employee who nominated the Camerons for the Sensitive Rehabilitation/Restoration award.
The building in the city’s historic district had previously been home to Taylor’s Auto Service, Weatherford and Wingo and Marcus Auto Repair and Tire Service, Marshall said, before the Camerons came along in 2007.
Sited on a small corner lot at a busy downtown intersection, issues such as modern-day parking and setback requirements posed some problems, Tara Cameron said.
“I knew Canton Street area had parking issues, but I also knew it’s pedestrian friendly and people would just walk up the street to a business,” she said. Read the rest of this entry »
